Task 2 : Risk Ranking of Chemical Reactions

Task 3 : Experimental Characterisation of Chemical Reactions

Task 4 : Identification and Selection of Process Deviation
Scenarios
Tasks 2 and 3 will have provided a detailed thermodynamic prediction and / or measurement for all reaction stages. The processes ranked as high risk will be subjected to a "what-if" analysis to identify scenarios that are likely to result in overpressurisation of process reactors. Data obtained in Tasks 2 and 3 will be used extensively in calculating the consequences of specific deviations where possible.

Task 5 : Experimental Characterisation of Runaway Reactions

Task 6 : Vent Sizing for Runaway Reaction
For each vessel, the worst case reaction scenario is identified and emergency relief system design calculations performed accordingly. The vent size required for runaway reaction will then be compared with that required for external vessel fire engulfment (Task 1) and the controlling scenario retained as the ultimate design case.
